Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyse the pragmems and pragmaphrasemes of crying in the corpus consisting of oral lyrical-narrative poems in an anthology edited by Đenana Buturović and Lada Buturović, as well as their functions. Linguistic expressions describing crying, and, in a wider semantic and pragmatic context also pain, sorrow, death, are an expression of an internal emotional state of an individual. Crying is an auditive linguistic sign frequently accompanied by gestures which are visual elements, hence that segment of nonverbal communication will also be part of the research.
