Abstract
This paper presents the first finding of the threatened Martino’s vole, Dinaromys bogdanovi for Mt. Čvrsnica in Western Herzegovina. A single individual was found on 21st October 2012 at about 2100 m a.s.l., below Pločno peak. D. bogdanovi is a globally threatened (VU) and Natura 2000 species for which protection sites should be designated. In Bosnia and Herzegovina the species is protected and included on the Red List of protected species of Republika Srpska and the Red List of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The finding site of Martino’s vole on Mt. Čvrsnica is located west of the Neretva River and falls within the area of distribution of the highly endangered and evolutionary significant unit of Martino’s vole.
