Abstract

Archaeological finds from Dvorovi are primarily noted in the archaeological literature as artefacts from devastated graves, found across a number of locations. However, in spite of this, some key data has been recoded that helps in providing a general reconstruction of the burial inventories. In the absence of an adequate archaeological context, the primary analysis of material culture focuses on morphological, typological and stylistic analyses in relation to other known similar objects, in order to offer a possible solution to the chronological positioning and potential place of production, as well as the specific cultural context in which the artefacts circulated. Bronze jewellery and ornaments, mainly parts of female garments, as well as amber and glass beads, constitute the most numerous finds in the collection. The very small quantity of collected ceramic material is certainly the result of a selective curation in favour of the most representative metal objects. This study addresses a series of finds located in different museums, and also attempts to provide a complete overview of the material culture of the Early Iron Age in the Dvorovi area and its vicinity.
