The results of the testing excavations at Podastinje, Višnjica and Gromiljak near Kiseljak

Abstract

The teasting excavations results on a few locations near Kiseljak are presented. Its aim was to estalblish their contents from the Roman time. At Podastinje a hill-fort Stijena was examined, and the traces of life from the Aeneolithic Age till the late Midlle Ages were found there, The Roman time includes ceramics fragments, parts of sarcophagus, a built crypt with supplements, several finely dressed stone tablets, and the remnants of the late antique fortress (refugium).  On the location "Bijele vode" at Višnjica the foundations of a larger Roman building were uncovered, together with the rcmnants of the heating system (hypocacust and smoke duct channels). On the "Begovića guvno" location the foundations of the Roman building with numerous remnants of burial were established. We also discovered a larger built crypt with a valult (hypogeum). On the "Begovića njive" location an old Christian basilica with a round built-in baptistery was uncovered. The found fragments of stones showed that it had heen equipped with a stone furniture.
