Contributions to the study of illyrian-pannonian tribe of Desityates and its territory in the regions of central Bosnia in preroman and roman times

Abstract

In this paper the author discusses the archeological locations where, in the last twenty years, he has done systematic or protective excavations, giving the most basic outlines for the results obtained. The paper is about the manner of burning (incineration) and burying in the tribe of Desityates in the pre-Roman occupation period (the Younger Iron Age) and the acceptance of the new way of burning and burying in time of the Roman occupation (continuously from 3rd century B. C. to 3rd century A D.). The affirmed stronger influence of Celts on the Desityates territory is quite important, but, however, i still does not resolve the issue of the Pannonian origin of the Desityates (Strabo, VII. 5, 3), It is obvious that longer research ought to be undertaken. The results also raise the issue of urbanization and romanization of this trine on the more profound level, particularly a poorly examined period of the late antique and its defense during the attacks of Barbars between 3rd and 6th century A.D.
